Hi Miho! My name's James! It's nice to meet you!
This year is my first year of college, but it is my fifth year of studying Japanese. I know how it feels to study for a long time, but still have a difficult time using your language skills. We just have to keep on trying! Whenever I feel like I can't learn Japanese, I think about the time when I was in Japan. When I was in Japan I did not understand everything that people said to me, but I did have very interesting conversations! The most important thing is communication :)
It's so cool that you lived in LA for a year! When was it? I have always wanted to go to California--some of my relatives live there, but they visit us, we don't visit them!!!
You said you like 80's music. I do too! Do you know the band Pizzicato Five (ピチカートファイブ)? They are a Japanese band, but they were popular in the eighties, and I like them a lot!! I also like Blondie and The B52's. Those are both American bands from the 80s. I also like techno and house music!
Did you move to LA because of your dad's job? Early this year, I was an assistant ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher at a school near my house. There were lots of Japanese people there. Everyday I helped them to learn English! It was so much fun! Each of the students in the class moved to Michigan because of a parent's job.
I'll talk to you later! Have fun!
~~James
